of growth and developmental characteristics of students
from the ages of 14 to 19 years, their developmental tasks,
and some of the serious issues and problems they may face
as they make their way through their high school years.
This booklet is designed for parents of high school students.

Growth and Developmental Issues
Students continue their patterns of growth and development
on a variety
of levels during their high school years. The following
lists of characteristics
represent generalized expectations for specific
age groups.
Since young people mature at different rates, these
characteristics may
